TODAY WE ARE WOMEN
Indianapolis, IN – In a stunning blow to the patriarchy and men everywhere the Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises (MWBE) commission has declared that Sleeping Giant Creative is now, officially, a woman owned business. When reached for comment a stunned owner of the company, Dannielle Stark, could only mutter, “today we are actually women.”
Since 1983, in the state of Indiana, the MWBE has the mandate to explore opportunities and implement activities that will enable MBE/WBE to fully participate in the Procurement system and become vendors for the state. Membership in this exclusive group allows Sleeping Giant Creative to bid on state jobs as an officially sanctioned WBE.
Operations specialist and “Jill of all Trades” Courtenay Stocker had this to say: “You know, I never lost faith. I knew that deep down we were women and we had a woman owned company and that eventually someone would recognize it and make it official. Things were looking bleak for a while when we had to take the written and oral exams. There was a lot of nonsense on there about Downton Abbey and Friends, but we pulled it together and aced the exams. After that it was only a matter of time. I knew it. No sweat.”
The needle is pointing straight up for this group of talented and creative women, the sky’s the limit. They are still committed to creating new and exciting original content, web and print design, graphic design, and branding for their customers, just like they always have. Ms. Stocker pledged that this new distinction for their company will not affect business one bit. In between proofreading content and managing freelancers and interns she put the dot on the exclamation point.
“It’s business as usual here at Sleeping Giant. We will never let the new title of ‘woman’ go to our heads. Laser focus, creativity with a dash of humility, that’s how we operate EVERY DAY. We do what we do, and we are the best at it, hands down. Sure, there are other design houses out there, but they aren’t us.”
